Taking clients for Q3

Jason Q. Lu

Product growth  ·  Strategy  ·  AI

Most small businesses are one decision away from real growth. I help you make it, then ship the work that follows.

I'm Jason Lu. Ten years of product growth experience at Google, TikTok, & Start-ups. I do the same for Australian SMBs now. We pick the highest-leverage move in front of you. Two weeks to ship the first version. Then we keep going.

The problem

Your growth has stalled. You can't name the move.

Revenue's plateauing. Competitors are shipping AI features that may or may not be real. You can see the opportunities. You can't tell which ones to chase, because no one on the team is senior enough to confidently call which bets are worth taking.

  1. 01  ·  Strategy

You can name the metric. You can't name the move.

Customers ask. Engineering ships. Revenue per customer hasn't moved in a year. Without someone whose job is to know what to build next, the roadmap is mostly inbound, not bets.

  2. 02  ·  Execution

You have ideas. You don't have the team to ship them.

A senior PM, a brand lead, or a growth engineer costs $200k+ each in Sydney. For a $2-20M business, you can have one. You need all three. Most growth ideas die in someone's Notes app.

  3. 03  ·  AI

You know it matters. You don't know which bets are real.

Half your competitors are launching AI features. Some are real. Some are powerpoint. Without a filter, you chase everything or wait too long and miss the window.

Engagements

Three ways to work together.

Productised. Fixed scope. Defined deliverables. No vague retainers that print invoices and not much else.

Growth Audit

Start here

$4,500 + GST

~ 2 weeks · fixed fee

Two weeks. We find the highest-leverage growth move in your business: a product bet, a brand move, an AI play. We design it end-to-end. You leave with a clickable prototype or strategy doc, a growth-impact model, and a 90-day plan to ship it.

Included

  • ·Discovery: interviews, data review, competitor scan
  • ·The bet positioned, scoped, and (where useful) prototyped
  • ·Growth-impact model (revenue, retention, or pipeline numbers)
  • ·Ninety-day implementation roadmap
  • ·Follow-up working session at week six

Build Sprint

From $18,000 + GST

4–8 weeks · scoped per project

After the audit. We pick the highest-impact bet from the roadmap and ship it. A new product surface, an AI feature, or a positioning play, built and deployed with your team and instrumented to prove it's working.

Included

  • ·All build, deployment, and integration
  • ·Engineering done with your team, not in a black box
  • ·Prompt design, model selection, and evals (for AI builds)
  • ·Go-live with monitoring and the growth metrics that matter
  • ·Handover documentation
Start a sprint

Fractional Product Lead

$8,500 / month

6–10 days a month · ninety-day rolling

Once we've shipped together and there's more to do. I plug into your team as your product leader: strategy, roadmap, hiring, the lot. Six to ten days a month. Senior horsepower without the headcount cost.

Included

  • ·Product strategy and roadmap ownership
  • ·Customer research and discovery
  • ·Sprint planning and team coaching
  • ·Stakeholder and board reporting
  • ·Hands-on work with engineering and design

How we work

Survey. Design. Build. Hand over.

No ninety-page strategy decks. No six-month “discovery phases.” We move at the pace your business actually needs to move.

  1. 01

    Discovery call

Thirty minutes. Free. No deck. We find out whether I'm the right person to help. If I'm not, I'll point you somewhere I think is better.

    Week 00

  2. 02

    Audit and design

I learn your business well enough to disagree with you usefully. End of week two: the bet identified, scoped, and (where useful) prototyped, with a ninety-day plan to ship it.

    Weeks 01–02

  3. 03

    Pick the bet

One growth move, fixed price, two-to-eight-week build. Everything else gets parked.

    Week 02

  4. 04

    Ship and hand over

The bet, built and shipped with your team. Instrumented so the numbers tell you it's working. Yours to keep.

    Week 03 onwards

Selected work

Track record. Not slideware.

A decade growing products at scale and starting things from zero. Here's where the experience comes from. Case studies from the first small-business engagements coming as they wrap. First one expected late September 2026.

  • Google

    Product Growth · 2026

Product growth on one of the world's most demanding products. Google's bar is the bar. The same rigour now goes into Australian small-business growth.

  • TikTok LIVE

    Growth, SMBs · 2024–2025

Ran growth for small businesses on TikTok LIVE. Lived inside SMB-advertiser data every day. I know what makes small businesses grow because I've shipped growth to thousands of them.

  • Are Media

    Digital transformation · 2020–2023

Led the rebuild of Australia's largest legacy publisher's commerce and content platforms. Took a ninety-year-old print business into content commerce and retail media. The SMB story at enterprise scale.

  • Discovrr · KOPA

    Founder · 2017–2020

Two startups, idea to market. One a social commerce marketplace, one a furniture brand. I've signed payroll, chased invoices, and shipped to real customers. I know what it costs to run a small business in Australia.

About

What you get when you work with me.

Ten years growing products at scale. Product Growth at Google, growth for small businesses on TikTok LIVE. Now I do the same work for Australian SMBs, one decision at a time. Not a deck-writer. Not an agency. Just me, in your business, until the work works.

I trained as an architect before I trained as a product manager. That background still shapes the work: systems thinking, an obsession with the brief, a respect for the difference between what looks right on paper and what stands up under load.

Most of my career has been spent inside large platforms (Google, TikTok LIVE, Are Media) growing products for small and medium businesses. Twice I've been on the other side, as a founder, running my own. I know what payroll feels like at three in the morning. I take that into every engagement.

Questions

Honest answers. Field-tested.

The questions buyers actually ask, answered straight.

01What size of business do you typically work with?

Australian small businesses with revenue from roughly five-hundred-thousand to twenty million and teams of three to fifty. Big enough that growth has stalled in a way that's costing real money; small enough that hiring a full-time senior PM or growth lead is overkill.

02How is this different from hiring an agency?

Agencies sell hours and deliverables. I sell judgement and outcomes. I'll happily tell you not to build something. Most agencies won't.

03Will you tell me NOT to build the AI version?

Yes. Maybe a quarter of the audits I run end with “don't build the AI thing. Fix this other process first.” I'd rather lose the build than carry a bad bet on your books.

04Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, mutual NDAs are standard. I'll send one before we get into specifics.

05Do you write code?

I prototype. I won't replace your engineering team, but I can show up to technical conversations with a working demo rather than a wireframe.

06How fast can you start?

Audits, within two weeks. Fractional engagements, within four. Build sprints depend on scope. Discovery calls, this week.

07What if it isn't working?

Engagements are ninety-day rolling. If we're not creating value, we stop. I'd rather lose the retainer than carry dead weight in your business.

Get in touch

Let's see if we fit.

Thirty minutes, free, no slides, no pitch. We'll work out whether there's a fit and what the right shape of engagement is. If there isn't a fit, I'll tell you and point you somewhere there is.
